St. John's Bay Tank Tops for Women | Official Store
Our Essential Knit Tank Top is the foundation piece every woman's wardrobe needs. We built this tank from a soft cotton-polyester blend that holds its shape wash after wash while staying breathable all day long.

We selected three distinct fabric blends across our tank collection to meet different wearing occasions and climates. The Essential Knit Tank uses our signature cotton-polyester jersey that balances natural breathability with shape retention—this blend resists pilling and maintains color vibrancy through repeated washing.

Sizing & Fit Guidelines
Our tank tops follow standard St. John’s Bay sizing, which tends to run true to size with a comfortable, non-clingy fit through the body. The Essential Knit Tank offers the most relaxed silhouette of the three styles, with approximately two inches of ease at the bust and waist for unrestricted movement.
The Active Performance Tank fits closer to the body through the torso to support athletic activities, though the four-way stretch prevents any binding sensation. We recommend ordering your usual size for this style unless you prefer an extra-loose fit for layering, in which case sizing up works well. The Linen-Blend Tank falls between these two fits with a straight, skimming cut that doesn’t hug curves but doesn’t billow either.

Care Instructions & Longevity
Machine wash all St. John’s Bay tank tops in cold water with similar colors to preserve fabric integrity and prevent dye transfer. We recommend turning garments inside out before washing to protect any surface finishes and reduce friction on the outer face of the fabric.
The Essential Knit Tank and Active Performance Tank both tolerate tumble drying on low heat, though air drying extends their lifespan by reducing heat exposure to elastic fibers. Hang the Linen-Blend Tank to dry flat or on a padded hanger to maintain its shape—high heat can cause linen fibers to become brittle over time.

Common Questions About Our Tank Tops
Our tank tops run true to standard US sizing with a comfortable fit that’s not overly tight or excessively loose. The Essential Knit Tank offers the most relaxed silhouette, while the Active Performance Tank fits closer to the body for movement support. We recommend ordering your usual size, though you can size up if you prefer extra room for layering. Customer feedback consistently confirms accurate sizing across our entire tank collection.
The Essential Knit Tank and Active Performance Tank both tolerate tumble drying on low heat without damage, though air drying extends their lifespan by reducing heat exposure to elastic fibers. The Linen-Blend Tank should be hung to dry flat or reshaped on a padded hanger, as high heat causes linen fibers to become brittle over time. Always wash in cold water and turn garments inside out before laundering to preserve fabric integrity.
None of our tank tops are sheer when worn in the correct size. The Essential Knit Tank uses a medium-weight jersey that provides full coverage in all twelve colors, including lighter shades. The Active Performance Tank features double-layer construction through the torso for opacity during movement. The Linen-Blend Tank has enough cotton content to prevent transparency while maintaining breathability. Darker colors naturally offer more coverage than very light pastels.
The Linen-Blend Tank delivers the most breathability for extreme heat due to its natural fiber content and loose weave structure. Linen regulates temperature naturally by allowing maximum airflow against your skin. The Active Performance Tank comes in second for hot weather because its moisture-wicking technology pulls sweat away quickly, though synthetic fabrics trap slightly more heat than natural fibers. The Essential Knit Tank works well for moderate temperatures but may feel warm in ninety-degree-plus conditions.
Only the Active Performance Tank includes a built-in shelf bra with removable foam cups for customizable support during athletic activities. The Essential Knit Tank and Linen-Blend Tank do not have built-in bras, giving you the flexibility to wear your own preferred undergarments. The shelf bra in the Active Tank provides enough support for moderate-intensity workouts like yoga, walking, or light jogging, though high-impact activities may require additional support.
Most customers find that three to five tanks provide enough variety for regular rotation throughout the week. We recommend starting with two Essential Knit Tanks in neutral colors as your foundation pieces, then adding the Active Performance Tank if you exercise regularly or the Linen-Blend Tank if you live in a warm climate. Having multiple colors lets you coordinate with different bottoms and outerwear while always having clean tanks available between laundry days.
The Essential Knit Tank features wider shoulder straps, a higher scoop neckline, and a relaxed body fit designed to be worn as an outer garment rather than underwear. Traditional camisoles typically have thin spaghetti straps, lower necklines, and body-hugging silhouettes meant for layering under clothing. Our tank construction uses reinforced seams and heavier-weight fabric that stands up to daily wear as a standalone top, while camisoles generally use lighter, more delicate materials.
